In 2022, 1.5 million children under the age of 18 in school are registered as having Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
Across the UK and Wales, nearly 1 million people aged 18 years and over have a form of neurodiversity.
In a study by Mencap, only 5.1% of people who have a learning difficulty or disability, are in paid employment.
These figures above are the ones we know about.
Sadly, there are many people who don't have a diagnosis so are masking their difficulties and using coping strategies, in order to engage in every day life.
I am passionate about raising awareness of Neurodiversity and seeing everyone become the person they want to be.
I work with businesses to provide a bespoke training package of support.
This can include a Neurodiversity audit to look at recruitment, retention and support, awareness training sessions or working individually with employees.
Feedback from previous clients have included:
'Our staff feel more confident when talking to customers, they feel more understanding of different needs and to approach customers who appear to be finding the shop environment difficult'.
'Following an audit to look at our approach, we have increased staff retention with one particular employee now on a phased return following a long term period of absence'.
I also run workshops where we explore some Neurodiverse conditions such as Autism, ADHD and Dyslexia as well as looking at Mental Health.
We will look at the signs some people may present with as well as taking away strategies to ensure everyone is able to be the best version of themselves.
